When we smile or laugh our face tends to stretch and fold especially in areas around the eyes and cheek. When we are young, our face seems to be free of smile wrinkles as it bounces back as soon as the face is relax. But, as we grow older, smile wrinkles becomes visible due to years of accumulative smiling. Smile wrinkles develop early on the face even before we get old. I have highlighted below some of the causes of smile wrinkles and how to get rid of them when they occur.
Causes of smile wrinkles
- Repeated facial movement overtime could cause smile wrinkles.
- Reduction in the production collagen and elastin, proteins responsible for keeping the skin together. As we grow older, these proteins reduce as a result when we smile the skin does not return back thereby forming smiling wrinkles.
- Excessive smoking can also result in smile wrinkles. Smoke is known to cause a drop in the amount of collagen in the skin.
- Exposing your face to the blazing sun. Frequent exposure to the sun is known to speed up the aging process of the skin thus giving smile wrinkles a platform to develop.
How to get rid of smile wrinkles
- Apply anti-wrinkle product on the affect area. This could be a good anti-wrinkle cream or wrinkle filler. Wrinkle creams when applied to the affected area of the face will help to get rid of wrinkles.
- Consider chemical peel or micro dermabrasion to get rid of smile wrinkles.
- Whenever you go out in the sun, ensure you protect your face from the sun. The sun has a way of damaging the skin and can cause more havoc on the face if you expose your face to it. To protect yourself, ensure you wear sun block or sunscreen whenever you go out in the sun. Face caps as well as wide brim hat can also help to shield your face from the sun.
- Eat balanced diet as it is good for the skin.
- Moisturize the affected area regularly to keep it supple.
